Workers comp claim possible in industrial accidents in Louisiana

On Behalf of | Feb 26, 2014 | Firm News, Workers' Compensation | 0 comments

Here in Louisiana, workers can reasonably expect that employers will take measures to ensure their safety. The Occupational Health and Safety Administration was created for just that purpose. Yet, accidents still occur that can be tied to the negligence of employers. Industrial accidents are, unfortunately, not unusual due to the physical nature of many jobs in that field. Recently, a worker in this state decided to sue several companies for injuries he sustained on the job.

The worker was tasked with delivering freight to a dock belonging to Energy Logistics Incorporated. During the process, a forklift driver caused a large pipe to land on the worker’s foot. The injuries were serious enough that the worker needed immediate medical attention and went to a local hospital.

Energy Logistics and two other related companies are now being sued by the injured worker. He alleges that the employers were negligent in properly training their employees, not having proper machinery, ignoring safety protocols and several other violations. He may also have the option to make a workers compensation claim in order to aid his recovery.

Other workers in Louisiana who are dealing with the aftermath of industrial accidents may wish to pay close attention to this case. Workers’ compensation claims can be used to recoup costs such as lost wages, potential loss of future wages and unpaid medical expenses. Employees should never have to feel as though they have no recourse when they are hurt on the job. Workers’ compensation exists for just that purpose and can help those who need it to return to as normal a life as possible.
